Happy New Year

Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year in 2021!

We had a very peaceful Christmas and the trend has continued. It has been a peaceful week and we have have only been out to the shops once for some shopping. We have had lots of video/zoom chats and phone calls with friends and family.

It is so cold at the moment and I think our energy bills will be going up. The cats are staying in a lot more instead of going gallivanting and sleeping close to the woodburner. We are getting through such a lot of wood right now. And the cold weather is getting to the hens now too because we only had two eggs today from the 13 of them. At least it is no longer snowing. My littlest grandson made his first snowman and loved it. We did not have a lot of snow and that snowman used up just about every flake that fell in my daughter's garden. We had lots of photos of the event which was lovely.

Snow Day

Yayyy!!!  A snow day.

Everything grinds to a halt when we have snow in this country.  We got sent home from school at lunchtime on Friday and had Monday off too.  I've also been woken up yesterday morning and this morning too by a text from school to confirm that school is open.

Monday was lovely as all unexpected holidays are and very few jobs got done.  We decided that a holiday was to be treated as a holiday and only essential jobs were done.

We have a bit of snow today but it is all wrong.  Enough to make driving horrible but not enough to get us a day off.  It is still enough to keep the kids at school in "high" mode, though : )

There was a huge flock (right word??) of seagulls flying around the garden and swooping right up close to the house for about half an hour.  We've not had that before.  We do see them from time to time but not in our garden.
